untitledOtospongioscleroza este o boala cu transmitere genetica care afecteaza transmiterea sunetelor la urechea interna prin blocaj stapedovestibular, cel mai frecvent la nivelul polului anterior platinar.

Evolutia bolii este lenta, fiind exacerbate de modificari hormonale suferite de pacienta pe parcursul vietii (sarcina, alaptare, menopauza). Simptomul cel mai deranjant pentru pacient este hipoacuzia. Pacientii care au o forma mai  agresiva de otospongioscleroza pot percepe  aparitia tinitusului prin afectarea la nivelul urechii  interne. Examenul computer tomograf de inalta rezolutie al stancilor temporale  a devenit o metoda larg raspandita de diagnostic si evaluare a otospongiosclerozei odata cu sporirea rezolutiei de examinare a structurilor inframilimetrice din regiunea jonctiunii stapedo-vestibulare si antefenestrale. Principalul avantaj consta in faptul ca ofera informatii directe asupra existentei, intinderii, topografiei si relatiei dintre placile de otospongioscleroza si structurile urechii medii sau interne.
