Otospongioscleroza este o boala metabolica ce afecteaza homeostazia tesutului osos al capsulei otice si este printre cele mai raspindite cauze de hipoacuzie. Otoscleroza este considerată ca o boala cu etiologie multifactoriala, in care sunt implicati atat factori genetici şi de factori de mediu.

„Chirurgia scaritei” un domeniu care incepe sa devina cunoscut, continua  sa  ofera inca surprize intraoperatorii.  Astazi diagnosticul de certitudine in otospongioscleroza, precum si evaluarea stadiala si prognostica sunt efectuate pe baza tomografiei computerizate de inalta rezolutie, dar exista totusi „surprize” pe  le descoperim doar  intraoperator. Va vom prezenta cazul unui pacient care prezenta o malformatie a nicovalei: descendenta nicovalei are o lungime insuficienta pentru a putea „cupla” un implant de titan Soft-Clip pe care il folosim in mod normal la interventiile de otospongioscleroza.
